SOLUTION:

Communication to create the best outcomes and rewards are my two strongest leadership competencies while builds relationships and creates organization are my development opportunities. Communication helps to build trust, to deep relationships, and inspire creativity that can lead to positive change as well as better outcomes (Sass & Keil, 2024). When I first became an NP, I made a promise to myself to behavior in a certain manner and to have a specific mindset.  I didn’t want to be like others in my position that I had worked with as a floor nurse.  I wanted to be a team player; I was no better than anyone else on the team; everyone’s ideas needed to be heard; I wanted to educate as I took care of each patient; I wanted to reward each person I interacted with.  Keeping this mindset and showing it through my actions would allow me to connect with my staff, to build trusted relationships, improve the care that we as a team were providing and would push me as well as those around me to do our best. The best way that I have found to stay true to this is through effective communication. This helps me to build a deep connection or relationship with the staff while also building trust. Trauma is a hard area to work in.
