This Collaboration Café aims to reflect on the lessons learned in this course related to how nursing history shapes nursing’s present and future.

Course Outcomes

This Collaboration Café enables the student to meet the following course outcomes:

• CO 1: Describe persons and events in nursing history from the early years through the 19th century related to leadership and care provision. (PO 2)
• CO 2: Apply lessons from nursing history to today’s professional nursing practice. (PO 4)
• CO 3: Identify persons and events in nursing history impacting evidence-based practice from the 20th century and 21st century. (PO 8)
• CO 4: Analyze the impact of nursing history on professional nursing roles today and in the future. (PO 7)

The lessons I have learned throughout this course have helped me to have a different outlook on the importance of my profession. Learning about all the hardships and sacrifices nurse in history had to endure in order to advance nursing as a respectable and important practice. My favourite lesson was the discussion post that we had an assigned historical figure with a certain attribute such as resilience.
