(SOLVED)NR582 Week 1 Discussion Impact of a Leader

Purpose

Threaded discussions are interactive assignments that require current scholarly literature to support and validate the information presented. The purpose of the threaded discussion (TD) is to engage with the class instructor and peers to apply, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate course-related concepts and topics, to facilitate the achievement of course learning outcomes. Participation in the TDs generates opportunities for students to actively engage in the written ideas of others by carefully reading, researching, reflecting, and responding to the contributions of their peers and course faculty. TDs foster the development of members into a community of learners as they share ideas and inquiries and integrate knowledge from other disciplines. Written interactions in the discussion show respect and sensitivity to peers’ gender, cultural and linguistic background, sexual orientation, and political and religious beliefs.

Each threaded discussion requires interaction with peers and/or the instructor, with active engagement in the TD on at least 2 separate days of the assigned week.

Discussion Week 1: Impact of a Leader

Reflect upon a leader or manager who positively or negatively impacted your practice. Do not identify the leader by name.

Describe the issue and the impact on your nursing practice.

In my first 2 years as an RN, I worked at a community hospital. There were extensive learning opportunities and lessons provided, but the culture felt like survival of the fittest. The staff who survived were bonded in trauma. We uplifted one another, cried together, saved patients together, and looked to one another when there was no one else. This created a tight knit group of nurses who were not just coworkers but family. Many of the situations I and other staff members encountered felt unsafe. We frequently reported our issues to our manager, who appeared open and receptive, but lacked action. We received write-ups, policy notifications, and other procedural changes that often increased our already overwhelming workload. Private conversations appeared as leaked gossip. The core needs of staff weren’t addressed. The unit was constantly understaffed, high patient to nurse ratios, bullying by some providers, and many safety event reports were filed. With all the feedback and complaints filed nothing ever came to fruition.…………Kindly click on the link below to access five alternative solutions for $6 or contact us via Whatsapp number +254721652000
