SOLUTION:

Paragraph one: How does providing nursing care at the end of life impact the emotional well-being and resilience of nurses, and what strategies can be used to support their mental and emotional health?

Nurses can be impacted positively and negatively by providing end of life nursing care. In a positive way I think nurses can take away and appreciate the great care they provide for the patients and family members during the difficult time. In a more negative aspect, I think nurses can feel a sense of burnout constantly dealing with patients in an end of life care setting. Also becoming close with patients can cause nurses to grieve as well during such a stressful time. A lot of hospitals offer employee assistance programs to help discuss their feelings and maybe give some coping mechanisms and advice. Speaking with management is also very important as care for other patients should be effected.

Paragraph Two: How would you approach an assessment differently if you were providing end-of-life care to a client and family who have unresolved family conflict and tension?

I think the patients wishes are what is most important during this time. If the patient request the family members to be there and they want to resolve that conflict then that is their choice. Our clients have the right to ask these family members to leave and we should respect their wishes.
