Directions
Discussion: Apply Knowledge
Step 1: Answer the discussion prompts below with explanation and detail.
Paragraph one: Imagine you are a member of a Quality Improvement Council that has an interprofessional membership, and you want to implement your change project. Summarize the overall goal of your change project and recognize Council members as stakeholders in the process.
Paragraph two: Describe each Council member’s roles and responsibilities specific to the change project. Explain how you would lead, inform, and coordinate the steps of the change project and leverage the expertise of each stakeholder.
Paragraph three: Explain how you would address conflicts or concerns among Council members during the planning of the change project. Describe strategies you could use to address resistance to change.

SOLUTION:
If I were a member of a Quality Improvement Council with an interprofessional membership and I wanted to implement my change project, I would first keep in mind that it is important that everyone has a clear understanding of what I am proposing we implement. The overall goal of this change project is to improve postoperative recovery and reduce the number of surgical site infections. My change project would help reduce surgical site infections through the implementation of preoperative weight reduction programs. This weight reduction program would be a combination of diet and exercise programs tailored to the patient’s abilities. By implementing these two programs early in the preoperative period, patients would have an average of 4-6 weeks to lose weight and set themselves up for a better recovery. This plan would allow patients to lose excess fat as well as gain better control over their blood glucose levels. This is important because research shows that having less fat would lead to improved circulation, improving the delivery of oxygen and antibiotic rich blood to the postoperative site (Seidelman et al., 2023). Having a more well controlled blood glucose is also important as research presented by Seidelman et al (2023), shows preventing hyperglycemia is recommended in all major surgical cases to reduce the risk of surgical site infections. With these interventions in mind, it becomes much easier to determine who should be considered as key stakeholders in this change project. First, surgeons will be instrumental in this project being successful as they will be the ones who initially present this to their patients. Next the role of nurses will be crucial for this project to be successful because they will provide education and periodic follow up. Dieticians and physical therapists will be two more key stakeholders in this project as they are experts in the fields of diet and exercise respectively…………………………….KINDLY CLICK ON THE PURCHASE LINK BELOW TO ACCESS THE ENTIRE SLOUTION FOR $8 OR CONTACT US VIA WHATSAPP NUMBER +254721652000
