This Collaboration Café aims to reflect on how history has shaped the nursing profession and the University.

Course Outcomes

This Collaboration Café enables the student to meet the following course outcomes:

• CO 2: Apply lessons from nursing history to today’s professional nursing practice. (PO 4)
• CO 4: Analyze the impact of nursing history on professional nursing roles today and in the future. (PO 7)

In this week’s lesson I feel like it has been a great base from learning about the background of the school and how nursing has progressed over time. I think that is also very interesting on how much that nurses now do compared to what our basis was in the early 1900’s. the way that nurses scope of practice has changed in a little over a hundred years is exciting and shows that nurses in today’s world are trusted and able to much more.

Paragraph one: Reflect on the long history of nursing through the lens of this week’s lesson. What is something new you learned this week or something that surprised you about nursing history?

so what i have learned this week is really how the nursing field was extremely sexist in the early 1900 and how that didn’t really change until the mid 1950’s. it was really surprising to me as a male nurse that nurses were not allowed to serve until that time due to the ANC that was established in 1901. ……………..KINDLY CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW TO ACCESS THE ENTIRE DOCUMENT FOR $10
