Emma Southwick Brinton was an army nurse from Massachusetts that served during the Civil War (McMaster, n.d.). Emma showed endurance when she was sent to Virginia, along with two other nurses to care for 10 buildings filled with wounded men. (Lange, 2024) The three women faced many hardships while in Virginia.
