The bureaucracy plays a significant role in shaping the life and freedom of ordinary citizens, and it often impacts our day to day experiences bot negative and positive. The bureaucracy system establish rules, regulations, and procedures that ensure fairness and consistency in how services are provided. They often manage essential services such as healthcare, education, and welfare. Without these structured systems, individuals may struggle to access these services. On the other hand, bureaucracy hinders us because the systems in place can be slow and in efficient. There is frustrating delays and/or excessive paperwork when trying to access services or resolve issues. According to Greenberg, these systems can create a sense of disempowerment among citizens. (Greenberg). When citizens are forced to interact with large organizations they can feel disconnected from the democratic process. The bureaucracy can be an effective aspect in my life due to the stability and fairness it possess and the efficiency in large scale operations but it may also have issues life inefficiency and red tape, impersonality, excessive control and resistance to change. According to Schwartz, bureaucrats are required to put their own beliefs and biases aside and proceed purely on the basis of what benefits the organization. The intention is to use standard criteria to reduce the effect of personal biases. (Schwartz). I absolutely like the fairness of the system, even though it’s a double edged sword!
